Monte Rio Beach is the largest public beach on the lower Russian River and is ADA accessible. Enjoy the serenity of this part of the Russian River and rent a canoe, paddle board or kayak. This is a great place to learn water sports but it’s also challenging enough to attract the advanced paddler. This year we are happy to announce that we will have a beach wheelchair available to use free of charge. The Wheeleez Sandcruiser all terrain beach wheelchair can take you from the parking lot to floating in shallow water. Please call 707 865 2487 to make a reservation.
Our food concession stand and boat rental shack are now closed for the 2025 season. We will reopen in May of 2026.

The lower beach parking lot is now closed for the season. The beach itself remains open to the public all year long.
West of the Monte Rio Bridge is Sandy Beach. This small beach is popular for fly-fishing and the adjacent boat launch provides access for small fishing vessels. Angling has long been a popular sport on the Russian River and even today the area is famous for Steelhead trout.
Sandy Beach is our dog-friendly beach and leashes are required. We ask that you respect the use of the area and clean up after your pet. Good river hygiene recommends that you bring fresh water for your pet to drink rather than river water, and bathe him/her upon arriving home.
Dutch Bill Beach is located across the river from Sandy Beach with access off of Main Street. It is a natural island in high water with Dutch Bill Creek to the south and the Russian River to the North. In the summer months it is a popular family beach for picnicking and fishing. There is a Park and Ride lot half a block south of the Beach entrance on Main Street.
