Seaweed Café Chef Jackie Martine to Host Culinary Class and Art Show Luncheon
RUSSIAN RIVER WOMEN'S WEEKEND 2008
Sunday, May 18, 2008

Monte Rio, CA. Celebrated Chef Jackie Martine of Seaweed Café in Bodega Bay will instruct a limited attendance class of students on the fine art of cooking fresh Sonoma County foods on Sunday, May 18, 2008. The Monte Rio Recreation and Park District (www.mrrpd.org) presents this very special event as a part of their on-going Taste of the River culinary events and in conjunction with the 2008 Russian River Women's Weekend (www.russianriverwomensweekend.org) in the demonstration kitchen of the newly renovated Monte Rio Community Center. Tickets may also be purchased separately for the four-course luncheon that will immediately follow the class at 1:30PM.

In notable kitchens like Augusta, Narsai's (where her talent secured a five star rating), Tourelle, Laxcaux and Wolfgang Puck's Postrio, Jackie has been on the cutting edge of cuisine for most of her career. Her unique creations have been savored by famous palates such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Martha Stewart, Jack Nicholson and many others. Seaweed Café opened in 2003 and received a 27 rating from Zagat in 2006. Seaweed Café has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, Press Democrat, Town & Country, Lonely Planet and Jane & Jane.

Using well honed techniques and immeasurable knowledge, Jackie will bring students into the kitchen to perfect their skills and assist in the preparation of an amazing four-course meal. If you have ever dreamed of working next to a famous chef, this is your chance to live it. Jackie's talents and the beauty of her food will provide you with an unforgettable experience.

Students will learn how to prepare such gastronomic delights as Nettle Soup for Naughty Girls, Bodega Bay King Salmon Tartare with Flying Fish Eggs, Sonoma County Seafood & Chicken Paella and Chocolate Volcano. Each dish will be paired with Sonoma County wines in the beautiful Redwood Room overlooking the Russian River where diners will be surrounded by the spectacular art of many Sonoma County women artists. The chef, food, wine and art will create a truly unique dining experience. Proceeds from the culinary class and luncheon will benefit the West County Health Centers Women's Health Projects (www.wchealth.org).

Class fees: $70.00 per student (20 students only). Students will enjoy hors d'oeuvres and champagne, kitchen training, and copies of all recipes - 10AM - 1:00PM. Students will attend the four-course luncheon following the class at 1:30PM.
